Name: S3 Savage IX Driver
Author: S3

Question 1

Install fails?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the driver INF lists the S3 Savage IX hardware ID and matches your Windows version. If setup rejects it, update manually via Device Manager → Display adapters → Update driver → Browse, or use compatibility mode for older Windows.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager for an unknown display adapter. Verify the laptop/BIOS has onboard video enabled and that the hardware ID matches Savage IX; a mismatched INF will not bind.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove existing S3/Savage display drivers in Safe Mode first, reboot, then install one package only. Mixing OEM and generic Savage IX drivers can cause black screens or failed startup.
