Question 1

Installer fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Run the S3 Chrome 540 GTX package as administrator and in compatibility mode for its target Windows version. If setup still fails, extract the INF and update manually via Device Manager > Display adapters > Update driver > Browse.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the card is fully seated, any required auxiliary power is connected, and the PCIe slot/BIOS settings are correct. In Device Manager, scan for hardware changes and check Other devices for an unknown display adapter.

Question 3

Version conflicts or Code 43?

Accepted Answer

Remove older S3/Chrome drivers first (safe mode + DDU if possible), reboot, then install only one package. On 64-bit Windows, disable driver signature enforcement if the legacy driver is unsigned.
