Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the FANTOM X, close DAWs, run the Roland driver installer as administrator, and temporarily pause antivirus. Reboot before reconnecting the synth.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct USB port, not a hub, and try another cable. On the FANTOM X, set USB Driver to VENDOR (not GENERIC), power-cycle, then check Device Manager for the Roland MIDI port.

Question 3

Version conflicts with older Roland drivers?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall previous Roland USB MIDI drivers, remove unused devices in Device Manager, reboot, then install the current FANTOM X driver. Avoid mixing old and new driver versions.
