Question 1

Install fails or driver is rejected?

Accepted Answer

The DIGI96 8 is a legacy PCI card; on modern Windows the installer may need admin rights, and old/unsigned drivers can trigger Code 52. Verify the correct 32/64-bit DIGI96 package, run setup as administrator, and temporarily disable driver signature enforcement only with a known-good legacy driver.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the motherboard has a real PCI slot, not PCIe. Reseat the card and try another slot. Check Device Manager for unknown/multimedia devices and ensure PCI/onboard audio is not disabled or conflicting in BIOS.

Question 3

Version conflicts/ASIO errors?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any previous RME DIGI96 or ASIO driver, reboot, then install one matching driver package. Avoid mixing newer RME drivers; after reboot, select the DIGI96 ASIO driver in your DAW.
