Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the EDICT 97 driver installer as administrator, temporarily disable antivirus, and confirm the package matches your Windows version/architecture. Remove any older Red Lion USB/serial driver entries in Device Manager before retrying.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct USB port and a known-good cable; confirm the EDICT 97 is powered and recognized in Device Manager. For Ethernet discovery, put the PC NIC on the same subnet, allow EDICT through Windows Firewall, and check link LEDs.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older EDICT/Crimson or Red Lion USB-serial drivers, reboot, then install the matching driver package. If the COM port changes, assign a fixed COM port in Device Manager and avoid mixing 32-bit and 64-bit drivers.
