Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Ralink setup as administrator. If it still fails on Windows 10/11, install manually via Device Manager > Update driver > Browse and point to the RT2561/rt61 INF file. Try compatibility mode for Windows 7/Vista.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the PCI wireless card and try another slot. In Device Manager, check for an unknown network controller or show hidden devices. Confirm the card is seated and enabled in BIOS.

Question 3

Driver version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall old Ralink/MediaTek wireless drivers first, remove stale rt61 driver packages with `pnputil`, reboot, then install the correct 32-bit or 64-bit RT2561 package. Avoid mixing RT61/RT2561 installers.
