Question 1

Install fails?

Accepted Answer

The QLA1080 driver package may not match your Windows version/architecture or may be unsigned. Download the correct QLogic package for the installed OS, run it as administrator, and reboot. Only use driver-signature enforcement bypass if the package is known-good and unsigned.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the PCI-X Fibre Channel HBA, confirm the slot is enabled in BIOS, and check Device Manager for an unknown Fibre Channel controller. Verify SFP/link status to the switch and update HBA firmware before reinstalling the driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Older QLogic/Storport miniport drivers can remain after an upgrade. Uninstall the previous QLA1080 adapter driver, remove the device in Device Manager, rescan hardware, then install one matching driver/firmware package. Check Event Viewer for Storport or ql2300/ql2xxx errors.
