Question 1

Install fails or shows Code 10/28/52?

Accepted Answer

Run the Prolific USB Parallel Bridge installer as administrator, reboot, then uninstall any existing Prolific device in Device Manager and rescan. Use the latest signed driver for your Windows version; older PL-2305 packages may fail on Windows 10/11.

Question 2

Device not detected / no LPT port appears?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager for “Prolific USB-to-Parallel Bridge” or an unknown device. Connect directly to a rear USB port, avoid unpowered hubs, and test a known-good USB cable. If nothing appears, the bridge or cable is likely faulty.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Previous Prolific serial or parallel drivers can override the correct one. Uninstall all Prolific entries, including hidden devices, delete the driver software, reboot, and reinstall the matching USB Parallel Bridge package. Then select the correct LPT port in the printer’s properties.
