Question 1

Install fails or hangs?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the FP10 before running the installer. Run it as administrator, allow the PreSonus/FireStudio driver to finish, reboot, then connect the interface. Antivirus or a pending Windows update can block the FireWire driver install.

Question 2

FP10 not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a known-good 6-pin FireWire cable and a native FireWire port; avoid USB-to-FireWire adapters. Confirm the FP10 is powered and try a TI-based FireWire card. In Device Manager, check for unknown FireWire devices and install the legacy IEEE 1394 driver if needed.

Question 3

Version/driver conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Universal Control/FireStudio drivers and remove hidden audio devices before installing the FP10-compatible driver. Don’t mix drivers from different PreSonus interfaces; reboot after uninstalling.
