Name: PreLoader USB VCOM Port (COM43) Driver
Author: MediaTek

Question 1

Install fails or Windows blocks the driver?

Accepted Answer

Run the manufacturer’s installer as administrator and use the exact package for your chipset. If Windows reports an unsigned or incompatible driver, verify the .inf matches the PreLoader/MediaTek VCOM device, or temporarily disable driver signature enforcement during install.

Question 2

Device not detected / COM43 missing?

Accepted Answer

The PreLoader port often appears only briefly in bootloader mode. Try a known-good data USB cable and direct port, re-enter preloader mode, then check Device Manager for “PreLoader USB VCOM” or an unknown device. Install the driver while it is connected.

Question 3

Version conflicts or wrong COM port?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older MediaTek/PreLoader VCOM drivers, remove hidden COM devices, reboot, and reconnect. Let Windows assign a new COM number instead of forcing COM43; then update your flashing tool to the new port.
