Author: Posbank

Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the Posbank A9 reader first, remove any old OmniKey/CCID entries in Device Manager, then run the correct 32/64-bit installer as administrator. Reboot before reconnecting the reader.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect the A9 directly to a rear USB port or powered hub, not a keyboard/monitor hub. Check Device Manager for “Smart card readers” or unknown USB devices, and ensure the Windows Smart Card service is running.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Windows may load a generic CCID driver instead of the OmniKey package. Uninstall the existing OmniKey driver and delete its driver package, install the vendor version, then verify the driver version in Device Manager and roll back if card middleware stops working.
