Name: PlayTV 405 Analog Video Driver
Author: Hauppauge

Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Unplug the PlayTV 405, uninstall existing Hauppauge/WinTV capture drivers, reboot, then run the installer as administrator and reconnect only when prompted. If needed, run setup in Windows Compatibility mode.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a rear USB 2.0 port directly, not a hub. Check Device Manager for an unknown/imaging device, then confirm the analog source is connected to composite/S-Video and selected in WinTV/AMCap with the correct NTSC/PAL setting.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old WinTV, SoftPaq, or duplicate capture drivers in Device Manager, reboot, and install only the matching PlayTV 405 driver. Close other apps using the capture device before testing.
