Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Planet ENW-9700 setup as administrator and use Windows Compatibility Mode for older packages. If setup still fails, extract the driver and install it manually via Device Manager → Update Driver → Browse.

Question 2

Adapter not detected?

Accepted Answer

Power off, reseat the PCI card, and try another PCI slot. Check Device Manager for an unknown “Ethernet Controller”; if present, install the driver directly against that device. Confirm the slot is enabled in BIOS.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any existing Planet or Realtek Gigabit driver, remove hidden network devices, then reboot before installing the correct 32/64-bit ENW-9700 package. Avoid letting Windows auto-update the driver mid-install.
