Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the im4720 driver installer as Administrator, temporarily pause antivirus, and reboot before retrying. Ensure the package matches your Windows version and the im4720 model—not another Pitney Bowes mailing system.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a powered USB port and a known-good cable, avoid unpowered hubs, and check Device Manager for unknown devices. Restart the Pitney Bowes mailing software/service, then reconnect the im4720.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Pitney Bowes drivers and mailing software first, remove stale USB device entries, and reboot. Install only the current im4720 package to avoid mixed driver versions.
