Name: Pentax OPTIO S5i Driver
Author: Pentax

Question 1

Installer fails or hangs?

Accepted Answer

The OPTIO S5i is an older USB Mass Storage camera; skip the bundled Pentax software if it won’t install on Windows 10/11. Run it as administrator in Compatibility Mode, or just connect the camera and use File Explorer to copy DCIM files.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Set the camera to PC/Storage mode, use a known-good USB data cable (not charge-only), connect directly to a rear USB 2.0 port, and avoid hubs. Check Device Manager for “Unknown USB Device”; unplug/replug and rescan.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove any old Pentax/Ricoh camera driver or bundled utility, then in Device Manager uninstall the camera entry and rescan. Let Windows use its built-in USB Mass Storage driver; if it still conflicts, use an SD card reader.
