Name: Optiarc DVD RW AD 7170S ATA Device Driver
Author: Optiarc

Question 1

Install fails or Windows rejects the driver?

Accepted Answer

Run the installer as administrator and use Windows-compatible Optiarc/AD-7170S drivers. For optical drives, the built-in Windows CD/DVD class driver often works; avoid forcing unsigned or older packages.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, confirm the drive appears in BIOS, then use Device Manager > Scan for hardware changes. Reseat the cable if the AD-7170S disappears intermittently.

Question 3

Version conflicts or stale entries?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall old Optiarc, Nero, or third-party burning filter drivers, remove duplicate drive entries in Device Manager, and reboot. Let Windows reinstall the standard DVD/CD-ROM driver before adding vendor software.
