Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

The BD-5300S normally uses Windows’ built-in optical driver; older Optiarc packages may fail on unsigned installers. Run as administrator, use compatibility mode, or let Windows Update install the standard DVD/BD driver. For firmware, use only the BD-5300S updater and do not interrupt power.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check SATA data/power cables and BIOS/UEFI detection. In Device Manager, scan for hardware changes; if the drive has a warning, uninstall it and reboot. Remove stale upper/lower optical filter drivers if the drive appears but discs do not read.

Question 3

Version conflicts or read errors?

Accepted Answer

Remove old optical drivers and firmware utilities before updating. Match firmware specifically to the Optiarc BD-5300S, not similar models. Reboot after changes.
