Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Olympus setup as administrator and in Windows compatibility mode for XP/Vista. Temporarily disable antivirus, then reinstall. The VN-2100PC’s legacy software often fails on modern Windows if an older Olympus DSS Player is already present.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a known-good USB cable and a rear USB 2.0 port, avoiding hubs. Confirm the recorder is powered on and in PC/USB mode; check Device Manager for unknown devices or removable storage. If it mounts as a drive, no extra driver is needed for file transfer.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall previous Olympus DSS Player/Device Manager and reboot before installing the matching version. Disconnect the recorder during installation, then reconnect after setup completes.
