Question 1

Driver install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Olympus VN-1100PC driver installer as administrator, use Windows compatibility mode for an older Windows version if needed, reboot, then connect the recorder only after installation finishes.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Try a direct rear USB port and a known data-capable cable, power the VN-1100PC on, and check Device Manager for unknown/USB devices. Remove any failed entry, rescan, and reconnect.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Olympus voice-recorder/USB drivers and remove hidden USB devices in Device Manager, reboot, then install only the VN-1100PC-matched package. Avoid mixing generic USB mass-storage drivers with Olympus software.
