Question 1

Install fails or Windows rejects the PPD?

Accepted Answer

The Magicolor 3100 PPD must be used with a compatible PostScript driver, not installed as a standalone INF. Use Add Printer > Have Disk and select the PPD, or install the Konica Minolta PostScript driver first, then attach the PPD to the queue.

Question 2

Printer not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the 3100 is powered on and connected to the correct USB port or network subnet. For network use, add the queue by IP/hostname instead of auto-discovery, and verify the TCP/IP port (usually 9100) or LPR queue.

Question 3

Version or port conflicts after an old driver?

Accepted Answer

Remove existing Magicolor 3100 queues and driver packages in Print Management, reboot, then reinstall the PPD with the correct 32/64-bit PostScript driver and recreate the printer port.
