Question 1

Driver install fails or hangs?

Accepted Answer

The legacy Kodak EasyShare M820 driver may be unsigned or incompatible with newer Windows. Run the installer as administrator in Windows 7 compatibility mode, or let Windows use its built-in USB Mass Storage/PTP driver.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect the M820 directly to a rear USB port, not a hub. Turn the camera on and set its USB connection mode to “Computer” or “Mass Storage,” then check Device Manager for an unknown device.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Kodak EasyShare software and any existing M820 driver first. In Device Manager, remove the device and its driver, reboot, then install only the correct package.
