Question 1

Driver install fails or shows “Unknown Device”?

Accepted Answer

The DT 101 G2 uses Windows’ built-in USB mass-storage driver. In Device Manager, uninstall the device and any “Unknown USB Device,” unplug it, then rescan hardware. Try a rear USB 2.0 port and another PC before reinstalling chipset/USB drivers.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check Disk Management for a missing drive letter or unallocated volume; assign a letter only if data access is not needed. Remove USB hubs, avoid front-panel ports, and test the flash drive on another computer.

Question 3

Version/driver conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall third-party USB driver-updater tools and roll back recent USB/chipset updates. Let Windows install its generic driver; do not force a Kingston “driver,” as this model does not require one.
