Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

The Lumia 510’s Nokia USB/Windows Phone drivers are old and may be blocked on 64-bit Windows 10/11. Run the installer as administrator in Windows 7 compatibility mode; if unsigned-driver errors persist, use a Windows 7/8.1 VM rather than forcing the driver.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use the original micro-USB cable and a rear USB 2.0 port, unlock the phone, and check Device Manager for an unknown “Nokia USB Device.” Charge-only cables or a locked screen often prevent enumeration; Zune is typically required for WP7.5.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Nokia Care Suite, Zune, and Nokia USB driver packages, reboot, then install only the Lumia 510-compatible driver set. Mixed driver versions can cause Code 10/28 errors.
