Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

Windows may reject the NOOK USB Device driver if it’s unsigned or the INF doesn’t match your model. Run the installer as administrator, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement only if instructed, and confirm the package lists your exact NOOK model.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Try a different USB data cable and a rear USB 2.0 port; avoid hubs. Unlock the NOOK and choose “Connect to PC”/MTP or “USB storage” as applicable, then check Device Manager for “NOOK USB Device” or an unknown device.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older NOOK drivers and generic MTP entries in Device Manager, reboot, then install the manufacturer’s current driver. If Windows keeps reinstalling a generic driver, update the NOOK USB Device driver manually via “Have Disk” and point to the correct INF.
