Author: Nikon

Question 1

Install fails or hangs?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the D3300, close Nikon Transfer/ViewNX-i and Windows Photos, then run the installer as administrator. If it still fails, remove old Nikon imaging entries in Device Manager and reboot before reconnecting.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use the original USB cable in a direct rear USB port, avoid hubs, set the D3300 USB option to MTP/PTP, and power it on. Check Device Manager for an unknown portable device or Nikon DSC entry.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Nikon drivers/software via Programs and Features, restart, then install the current package. Don’t mix old ViewNX with Nikon Transfer 2; if Windows loads a generic driver, update it manually via Device Manager and select Nikon.
