Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Nikon installer as administrator, temporarily disable antivirus, and keep the D3000 disconnected until setup prompts for it.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct rear USB port and a known data cable—not a hub. Power on the D3000 and set its USB mode to Mass Storage or MTP/PTP to match your transfer method.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Nikon Transfer/ViewNX or prior drivers, remove stale camera entries in Device Manager, reboot, then install only the current package.
