Question 1

Installer fails on Windows 10/11?

Accepted Answer

The Nikon D70 is a legacy USB Mass Storage camera, so Nikon’s old driver package may fail. Run the installer as administrator in Windows 7 compatibility mode, or skip it and use Windows’ built-in USB Mass Storage driver via File Explorer.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Set the D70’s USB menu to Mass Storage (not PTP), power the camera on, use a known data cable and a direct rear USB 2.0 port—not a hub. Remove the memory card and reconnect if Windows still does not show the D70.

Question 3

Version conflicts with Nikon software?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Nikon View/Nikon Transfer and any previous Nikon USB driver, remove the D70 in Device Manager, then reconnect and let Windows assign the Mass Storage driver.
