Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the Coolpix L820 before starting. Run the installer as administrator, reboot if prompted, then connect the camera only after installation finishes.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Power on the L820, use a direct rear USB port and the Nikon cable—not a hub. Set the camera’s USB mode to Mass Storage or PTP, and check Device Manager for an unknown device.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Nikon software or USB drivers first. In Device Manager, remove the camera entry and tick “Delete the driver software,” then reconnect and let Windows reinstall the correct driver.
