Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the Coolpix L30 before running the Nikon driver/software installer. Right-click the installer and choose Run as administrator; if it still fails, run it in Windows compatibility mode for an older Windows version and temporarily disable third-party antivirus.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct USB cable—not a hub—and a rear motherboard port. Power on the L30, set its USB mode to Mass Storage or PTP in the camera menu, then check Device Manager for an unknown device or warning icon.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Nikon software and any previous Coolpix driver, remove the camera from Device Manager, reboot, then reconnect the L30 and let Windows install its inbox USB/PTP driver before reinstalling Nikon software.
