Question 1

Installer fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Older Nikon Transfer/ViewNX installers may fail on current Windows. Uninstall previous Nikon software, run the installer as administrator, and use compatibility mode for the correct Windows version. The Coolpix L120 usually works via built-in USB storage/MTP without a separate driver.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the L120 is on and in playback/transfer mode, use a known-good USB cable directly into a rear motherboard port (no hub), and check Device Manager for an unknown device. Try another cable/port; if prompted, select Mass Storage or MTP.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old Nikon drivers/software and duplicate entries before installing a newer package. Restart, then install only one compatible Nikon utility; avoid mixing older ViewNX/Transfer versions with newer Windows builds.
