Author: Nikon

Question 1

Installer fails on modern Windows?

Accepted Answer

The older Nikon Scan installer may need Administrator rights and Windows compatibility mode. Reboot after installation and do not connect the COOLSCAN V ED until setup asks.

Question 2

Scanner not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct USB 2.0 port, not a hub. Confirm the scanner powers on, try a known-good cable, and check Device Manager. Install Nikon Scan before connecting the device.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall previous Nikon Scan versions and old scanner entries, reboot, then install one Nikon Scan release that supports the COOLSCAN V ED. Avoid mixing Nikon Scan with generic scanner drivers.
