Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Run the Nikon installer as administrator, temporarily disable antivirus, and remove any older Nikon software first. If setup still fails, use Windows compatibility mode for an older Windows version.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the COOLPIX S610c is powered on and set to the correct USB mode (Mass Storage or PTP/MTP). Try a direct rear USB port with the original cable, avoid unpowered hubs, and check Device Manager for unknown devices.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall previous Nikon drivers/software and disconnect the camera before rebooting. Install only the package matching your Windows version and 32/64-bit architecture; avoid mixing legacy Nikon drivers with Windows’ built-in camera driver.
