Question 1

Install fails or setup stops?

Accepted Answer

Run the Nikon installer as administrator and temporarily disable antivirus. If the legacy software rejects your Windows version, skip it and use Windows’ built-in photo import—the COOLPIX 4800 typically appears as a USB mass-storage camera.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a known data-capable USB cable, connect directly to a rear USB port (not a hub), set the camera to playback/transfer mode, and power it on. Check Device Manager for an unknown USB device and reinstall the USB Mass Storage driver if needed.

Question 3

Version conflicts with Nikon software?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Nikon View/Nikon Transfer or prior COOLPIX drivers, reboot, then install only one package. If Windows already shows the camera as a removable drive, use that instead of installing a legacy driver.
