Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the printer cable, remove any existing SuperScript 870 entries in Printers & scanners, then run the NEC installer as administrator. Reconnect only when prompted.

Question 2

Printer not detected?

Accepted Answer

Try a direct USB port or check the parallel/LPT port in BIOS. Power-cycle the printer, then use Add Printer > Have Disk and point to the extracted INF file.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older NEC or generic PostScript drivers, clear the print queue, reboot, and install the correct 32/64-bit package. Block Windows Update from replacing it until a test print succeeds.
