Name: NEC PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller B1 Driver
Author: NEC

Question 1

Install fails or Code 10/28?

Accepted Answer

Old NEC packages are often unsigned or incompatible with Windows 10/11. Run the installer as administrator in compatibility mode, or update manually in Device Manager using the correct `.inf`. If Microsoft’s generic USB Enhanced Host Controller driver binds cleanly, prefer it.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Power off, reseat the PCI card, clean the slot contacts, and try another PCI slot. Confirm PCI slots are enabled in BIOS. Check Device Manager with View > Show hidden devices for stale entries.

Question 3

Version/stack conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Leftover NEC USB 2.0 drivers can conflict with the inbox EHCI stack, causing Code 31/41 or dropped USB devices. Uninstall all NEC USB controllers/hubs, select Delete driver software, reboot, then install one driver package only.
