Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

The GR-D93 relies on legacy software. Run the installer as administrator in Windows 7 compatibility mode, and disable driver signature enforcement if Windows blocks it. Reboot before retrying.

Question 2

Camcorder not detected?

Accepted Answer

For video capture, connect the GR-D93 via IEEE 1394 (FireWire), not USB; set it to Playback/VCR mode and use mains power. USB is only for still-image/memory-card access. Try another FireWire port/cable and avoid hubs.

Question 3

Version/driver conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older JVC, Pinnacle, or IEEE 1394 host-controller drivers in Device Manager, then reinstall the matching package. If capture software still fails, check Device Manager for yellow warnings and test with a known DV capture tool.
