Question 1

Install fails or shows Code 10/28?

Accepted Answer

Install the matching JMicron storage-controller/chipset driver before the disk driver, run the installer as administrator, and use a current signed package for your Windows version.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA data and power cables, confirm BIOS/UEFI SATA mode matches the original setup (AHCI vs. RAID), then rescan in Device Manager and initialize/assign the disk in Disk Management.

Question 3

Version conflicts or disk disappears after update?

Accepted Answer

Roll back in Device Manager, uninstall the JMicron driver with “Delete driver software,” remove hidden duplicate devices, reboot, and reinstall the correct vendor package instead of mixing it with the Microsoft generic driver.
