Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

The old iRiver installer may fail on modern Windows. Run it as administrator in compatibility mode, or skip it and use Windows’ built-in USB Mass Storage driver so the IFP 300 mounts as a removable drive.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect directly to a rear USB port without a hub, try a known-good cable, and set the player’s USB mode to “Removable Disk”/UMS if available. Check Device Manager for unknown devices and reinstall the driver there.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older iRiver Manager/driver packages, remove any hidden or non-present USB devices in Device Manager, reboot, then install only the driver/firmware version matching your IFP 300 model.
