Author: Iomega

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Iomega setup as Administrator and in Windows XP compatibility mode; disconnect other USB storage first. If the legacy installer still fails, skip it—Windows’ generic CD-ROM driver usually detects the CRE 01A, then install only a compatible burning app.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the power adapter is connected and try a rear USB 2.0 port with a known-good cable, not a hub. In Device Manager, scan for hardware changes; if it appears with an error, uninstall the device and reboot.

Question 3

Version/driver conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove older Iomega, Adaptec ASPI, or Nero/Roxio CD-RW drivers before installing new software. Keep one burning suite installed, and let Windows use its built-in driver unless Iomega provides a signed CRE 01A package.
