Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the IOGEAR GBU421 setup as administrator, temporarily disable antivirus, and remove any previous Bluetooth software/stack first. If it still fails, use Windows compatibility mode for the supported OS version, then reboot.

Question 2

Adapter not detected?

Accepted Answer

Plug the GBU421 directly into a rear USB 2.0 port, not a hub or front-panel extension. In Device Manager, remove unknown/Bluetooth entries, rescan hardware, and check the USB connector for looseness.

Question 3

Version conflicts with built-in Bluetooth?

Accepted Answer

Disable the laptop’s internal Bluetooth in Device Manager or BIOS before installing the IOGEAR driver. Do not mix the Windows generic Bluetooth driver with the vendor package; uninstall both, reboot, then install only the IOGEAR driver.
