Author: IBM

Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

R50e drivers are mainly 32-bit Windows XP/2000 packages. Run the IBM/Lenovo installer as administrator in XP compatibility mode, or extract it and update the device via Device Manager using the INF file.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Install the ThinkPad R50e chipset driver first, reboot, then check Device Manager for unknown devices. For wireless, enable the radio with Fn+F5 and the hardware switch before reinstalling the adapter driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove older IBM/Intel wireless or SoundMAX entries in Device Manager, reboot, and install only one R50e-matched package. Avoid mixing Lenovo System Update drivers with third-party versions.
