Name: IBM eServer xSeries 306 Driver
Author: IBM

Question 1

Install fails or Windows rejects the driver?

Accepted Answer

The xSeries 306 packages are often for Windows 2000/Server 2003. Confirm the OS matches the driver, run the IBM setup as administrator, and avoid forcing newer unsupported builds.

Question 2

Storage/RAID controller not detected during Windows setup?

Accepted Answer

The xSeries 306 may need its onboard RAID/SCSI driver loaded early. Use F6 with a floppy/USB driver, or slipstream the correct IBM storage driver into the install media.

Question 3

Version conflicts after ServerGuide or UpdateXpress updates?

Accepted Answer

Remove the old device driver in Device Manager, reboot, then install the matched IBM xSeries 306 package. Do not mix bundled and standalone driver versions.
