Name: IBM ThinkCentre A50 (8175KAQ) Driver
Author: IBM

Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

The A50’s XP-era chipset/audio packages may not run on newer Windows. Extract the package and update the Intel 865G/AC’97 device manually via Device Manager (“Have Disk”), running as administrator.

Question 2

Onboard device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm onboard audio/LAN is enabled in BIOS, then install the Intel chipset INF before audio, graphics, or network drivers; use Device Manager > Scan for hardware changes.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove any existing SoundMAX/Intel graphics driver and avoid mixing Windows Update drivers with the IBM 8175 package. If audio or display breaks after an update, roll back to the IBM-listed driver.
