Question 1

Install fails or Windows rejects the driver?

Accepted Answer

Run the HTC MyTouch 4G driver installer as administrator and match it to your Windows version. If using an older unsigned package, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, install, then reboot.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a known data-capable USB cable and a rear USB 2.0 port. On the phone, enable USB debugging and set the USB connection mode to HTC Sync/MTP or disk drive. In Device Manager, update the unknown device manually to the HTC/ADB interface driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts with HTC Sync or older ADB drivers?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall HTC Sync, prior HTC drivers, and any Android ADB driver. In Device Manager, remove the MyTouch 4G entry and delete its driver software. Reboot, then install only one MyTouch 4G driver package.
