Author: HTC

Question 1

Driver install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

The HTC Inspire 4G package is old; run the installer as Administrator and try Windows 7 compatibility mode. If Windows blocks the unsigned driver, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, then reinstall.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

On the phone, enable USB debugging and set the USB connection to HTC Sync or Mass Storage, not Charge Only. Use a known data-capable cable and a rear USB 2.0 port; avoid hubs.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall existing HTC Sync/USB drivers and reboot before installing the Inspire 4G driver. In Device Manager, remove the phone under Android USB Devices or Portable Devices, then reconnect and let Windows reinstall.
