Author: HSP

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the HSP56 MR installer as Administrator; on modern Windows, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement. If setup still fails, extract the package and update the “PCI Modem”/unknown device via Device Manager > Update driver > Browse > Have Disk.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager for an unknown PCI communications device. Reseat the modem card, confirm it is enabled in BIOS, and install manually using the hardware ID rather than a generic modem driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts or no dial tone?

Accepted Answer

Remove existing HSP/PCTel/Conexant modem entries and leftover driver packages, reboot, then install the correct 32/64-bit package for your Windows version. Assign a free COM port manually if another device is using it.
