Name: HSP K56FLEX PCMCIA Modem Driver
Author: HSP

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the HSP setup as Administrator, or install manually via Device Manager > Update driver > Browse. For legacy PCMCIA modems, use Windows XP compatibility mode if needed.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the slot is a 16-bit PCMCIA slot, not CardBus-only. Reseat the card, check the PCMCIA controller driver, and look under Modems or Other devices—not Network adapters.

Question 3

Version/COM port conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old HSP or generic modem entries and leftover INF files, reboot, then install the matching K56FLEX INF. Prevent Windows from overriding it with a generic modem driver and assign a free COM port.
