Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Confirm onboard AC’97 audio is enabled in BIOS, run the ADI setup as administrator, and if Windows blocks the older package, install the AD1888 INF manually via Device Manager > Update Driver > Browse > Let me pick > Have Disk.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager for an unknown PCI multimedia audio device and install the AD1888 INF manually. If no device appears, verify the desktop’s AC’97 audio is enabled in BIOS and the card is seated if add-in.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any existing SoundMAX/Realtek AC’97 driver and reboot before installing ADI. In Device Manager, uninstall the audio device with “Delete the driver software,” then run the ADI installer.
