Name: HL DT ST DVDRAM GH41N SCSI CdRom Device Driver
Author: LG

Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

Windows usually uses the built-in CD/DVD-ROM driver, so vendor installers can fail if an older LG driver is present. Uninstall the existing optical drive in Device Manager, reboot, and let Windows reinstall the standard driver.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

For this SCSI CD-ROM device, check the SATA/power cable, confirm the drive appears in BIOS, and verify a drive letter in Disk Management. Reboot and rescan hardware in Device Manager.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old LG firmware/driver packages before installing the correct GH41N firmware. If the drive misbehaves after a Windows update, use Device Manager > Roll Back Driver, then reboot.
