Question 1

Installer fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Close WinTV and other TV apps, run the Hauppauge installer as administrator, temporarily disable antivirus, and reboot before retrying. Remove any partial WinTV install first.

Question 2

HVR 955q not detected?

Accepted Answer

Plug the tuner directly into a rear USB 2.0 port—avoid hubs and extension cables. In Device Manager, scan for hardware changes; if it appears as an unknown device, uninstall it and reinstall the current WinTV package.

Question 3

Driver/software version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older WinTV or Hauppauge driver versions, remove leftover tuner entries in Device Manager, reboot, then install the latest HVR-955Q-compatible WinTV release. Do not mix old driver packages with a newer WinTV install.
